The Roma Scholarship Foundation (FSR) is established as a local NGO in Montenegro. It is managed by a board of five members. The Foundation has its own staff (a full time director, and several assistants), and its beneficiaries are working together with the Foundation in the aim to achieve and maintain sustainability.

Objectives:

The objective of the Foundation is to provide Roma and other disadvantaged groups with sustainable access to education (formal and informal) in order to support integration into the overall society.

Activities:

• Providing access to financial means for Roma attending high school education and Universities.
• Providing access to financial means for Roma attending informal education in order to help them integrate into the formal education system.
• The Foundation provides access to financial and in-kind means (books, libraries, and internet access) for Roma individuals who are attending high schools and universities or other informal programs as improved by the Managing Board.
• Providing additional resources to support children and young adults of Roma and other disadvantaged groups to enter and remain in the educational system.
• In 2007, the project "A Second Chance: Integration by Adult Literacy and Vocational Education" has started. More...

Beneficiaries of our scholarships:

Recent beneficiaries of our scholarships are

• Six students studying at the Philosophic Faculty in Niksic, department for pre-school education
• Seven trainees for Journalists’ school organized by OSCE, mission Serbia and Montenegro, office in Podgorica
• Seventeen high school students
• Four adult education students
• The Foundation hosts preparatory lessons for journalists’ trainees in its premises.

Funding:

Funding for the first year of Foundation’s work were provided by Dutch voluntary contribution to the OSCE. Since then, the Foundation's activities have been financed by several international donors. See partners.

As we plan to continue and achieve sustainability, we welcome donations from individuals and other organizations.
