ISI asks the municipality of Podgorica to
suspend the demolition of the building "ul. 4. Jula" |
23 January 2008
The Institute for Social Inclusion (ISI, formerly FSR) appeals to the municipality of Podgorica to postpone the demolition of the building in "4. July" street which is used as living quarters for ten Roma families. The plans should be postponed as long as the residents are not provided with other housing, and weather conditions have not improved, says ISI. Amongst the 40 persons who are affected by the plan to destroy the building, there are children, elderly and handicapped. Generally, all inhabitants are unemployed, and do not have any vocational qualification nor completed school education. This minimizes both their chances on the labour market and their chances to provide shelter for themselves without support from outside.
